I’ve been half-heartedly collecting images over the past couple of months as kind of inspiration points for a photoshoot I’d like to one day do - except I am one of the worst when it comes to styling others (this is why I’m a writer).  Do any of the other wornettes want to take this on?

For me, kitsch is super visual. Some people have asked me if there is kitsch music, kitsch poliitcs, and for me that’s really hard to answer. It exists, I’m sure, but as a concept kitsch is very visual. There’s definitely kitsch fashion, but I think there’s a big difference between just retro and kitsch. I think kistch is of the retro family, though.

Here are the soles of those shoes you tumblr folk love so much.

Unlike most bands of the era, Television wore their everyday clothes when they performed. Hell’s filthy unkempt hair and generally disheveled appearance had already made an impression before he arrived one night at Punk mecca, CBGB, with a shredded tee-shirt held together by safety pins. Hell has long maintained that this garment wasn’t meant to be any kind of statement, but simply a way of holding his clothes together. This explanation has never really made much sense. Why didn’t he just wear another shirt? Photographer and friend, Bob Gruen has recently revealed more details. What Hell has been neglecting to mention is the fact that after a fight with his live-in-girlfriend, she had taken a razor blade to all of Hell’s clothes right before the show.
